HEC Learning Opportunities Abroad Portal Open for Students

What is the HEC Learning Opportunities Abroad Portal?

The Higher Education Commission (HEC) manages international scholarships and overseas research programs for Pakistani students through the HEC learning opportunities abroad portal. This platform serves as the central hub where applicants submit applications for foreign-funded government scholarships, bilateral agreements, and research fellowships.

Which Programs Are Available Through the Portal?

The portal hosts multiple international funding streams and academic mobility projects designed for Pakistani scholars at various degree levels.

• International Research Support Initiative Program (IRSIP): Offers PhD scholars short-term research fellowships abroad with monthly allowances up to $1,500.
• Chinese Government Scholarships: Provides opportunities for Pakistani students to pursue undergraduate, master's, and doctoral studies in designated Chinese universities across disciplines like science, engineering, agriculture, medicine, economics, and arts.

Who Is Eligible to Apply?

Eligibility depends on the specific scholarship program hosted on the portal. Generally, applicants must hold Pakistani citizenship, meet minimum academic score requirements set by HEC and partner nations, and fulfill degree prerequisite criteria. For research fellowships, applicants must be enrolled in local PhD programs.

How Can Students Apply?

Students must create an account on the official HEC portal, complete the online profile, select the relevant foreign scholarship program, and upload all required educational documents before the respective program deadlines.
